I must say that it was a pleasure to be at the Quietfire meet this past weekend. Your track club's meet was more organized than any San Diego association meet we have attended so far. It was refreshing! It was also good for the parents on our team to see what track and field is all about. Our head(and) assistant coaches have a habit of making excuses for their lack of coaching expertise. Our parents are often told that "those kids are just exceptionally fast" when their child is consistently 30m behind all of the other children. The kids are only praised by the head coach when they come in first, they are NEVER praised for their efforts otherwise. Our parents had the opportunity to see the full spectrum of abilities at this meet. This has sparked the beginning of change (something I have been advocating for since day one). My husband(hurdles) and I(high jump)coach for the team and are often frustrated with many things that happen. As for my family, we have decided that maybe this is our first and last season with our team( inland valley wildcats). I have daughters in the bantam and sub-bantam divisions who really injoy the sport. My sub-batam baby had fun, finished her race and was focused on running the race (she usually looks at the trees, her feet and in the stands when's she runs). As for my batam baby she did well. Although I was nervous for her, she was able to hold her own without any coaching. She pr'd at 15.49 in the 100m and ran 32.8 in the 200m(last weeks time was 32.5) We have to find another place for her to develop her god given talent. There were several lessons that my girls were able to walk away with my girls now understand how aware they must be of check in calls and are a little more at ease that I will not be able to check them in at all meets. My oldest daughter has made the 100m finals every meet thus far and now understands that may not always be so. My youngest daughter now understands the meaning of focus......thank you Quietfire Invitational

This weekend at the Quiet Fire Meet my 3 years as a track parent I had never been so disappointed in the behavior and unsportmanship like conduct by PARENTS. My husband (who is a coach), kids, and I are from another Southern California track team. I have given props to Lauren Rain Willaims on many occassions, and thought that the shout outs this week would be no different. HOWEVER.. after it was announced another well known track club parents starting BOOING!!! I couldnt believe my ears!! I was not only shocked but embarrased that these so called ADULTS had stooped to this level. Parents realize this...

1. Lauren is a CHILD...
2. I was always taught if you have nothing positive to say... say nothing...
3. How would you feel if someone did that to YOUR child?

I strongly believe that it takes a village to raise a child. Instead of trying to dismiss or belittle her GOD given talent, we as a community need to make sure she has any and everything she needs to reach her olympic dreams.

Kaylee And I will continue to support, encourage, and cheer her on until your dreams have been met!
