TrackMom Diaries Our 6th Journey to the JO’s

This season like all the season in the past has been very different than the last. I never heard  anyone discuss the journey an athlete and their family experiences as a an athlete grows and progresses in the sport. I will always say I completely enjoy track and field. With that blanket statement it has gotten more difficult with each passing year to do track as an age group parent and athlete. There are a lot of reasons. The below three top reasons I site(of course this goes with out saying these are my experiences and some parents  have shared with me that I know, hopefully they won’t be yours)

Reason #1   Every athletes performance experience will be different win lose or last place. I have found that parents often times compare needlessly, various athletes and performances and expect similar out comes. This is utterly silly.  ok flat out ridiculous . Why would  a parent place that kind of pressure on a developing child. Track if nothing else is a dramatic unfolding process.Filled with many  many ups and downs.   Take home point …If you are involved in Track and Field  take a chill pill and enjoy the journey.

Reason #2 There isn’t a microwave warm up that leads to gold.  Only hard works last.Ask any trials athlete this week.  Sometimes hard work isn’t enough when you need it…. Remember the **2009 Sub Midget 200m in  2 minutes  Lauren Williams**  look that up

Reason# 3  It’s a great idea not to say things that you know something about whether it be  an athlete or their family.  You might just be hurting someone’s feelings. Mainly the athlete. For the very last time  “THERE IS NO SECRET TRAINER” LOL  That’s my favorite piece of Williams Family non friend or family “discussion” okay gossip :-)   .

I couldn't resist..........

So yes once again we begin our Journey to the JO’s the season ends a great performance season for Lauren and hopefully the best has yet to be seen..
