What Should My Kid Eat At A Track Meet?…..Cucumbers

In many households, cucumbers are only in the fridge in the form of pickles. Cucumbers have more to give that a simple salty pickle existence on a sandwich from time to time. Cucumbers are actually a GREAT food to eat at the meets and at home. I know, I know you say “cucumbers? my kid won’t eat that….well, all I can say to that is get them to try because the best foods for performance and overall health are unfortunately the one parents and children just can’t seem to eat.

Cucumbers are  in the melon family just like watermelon, squash other well known melons.  They are very hydrating and refreshing containing over 96%  water. Here’s the great news the water in a cucumber isn’t just any water, it is naturally distilled water, very alkalizing a fancy word for very good for you.

More reasons why you should bring a few cut and chilled cucumbers to the track meet:

1        Helps regulate the pH in  blood

2        Helps regulate blood pressure

3        Full of  potassium

4        Rich in vitamin C,A  folate, manganese, potassium vitamin, calcium silica.

5        Natural diuretic, helps dispose of  waste through urination

6        Very good and fighting general inflammation

7        Low in calories high in fiber and help lower

8        Can help lower homocysteine levels.

9        Can contribute to healthy bones and connective tissue like tendons and ligaments

10    For you Track Moms helps remove puffy eyes, and a nice helper in promoting healthy skin and nails

As for how to eat a cucumber, if you can try eating it sliced peel on(more nutrients that way), with a little lemon juice drizzled on top and chili or a spicy mixture of spice powders to your  liking (that is one of my favorite ways)
