For many youth track fans LA Jets is a must do on the Youth Track schedule for the Western  United States. The very first USATF meet Lauren ever ran in was the LA Jets meet (purely by accident) and year after year it has become a special meet for our family as well as hundreds of others that travel great distances north south east and west to have an opportunity to compete with some of the best youth athletes of Region 15  and the country as a preview to the USATF  Junior Olympics and AAU Junior Olympic Games.

LA Jets is  the ending, just as the Phoenix Invitational  begins in early April . Many athletes and coaches “see” where they are at. The LA Jets meet helps continue the vision and hopes of many, as some of the best convene one last seasonal meet to see how things are going, to “see” where they are weeks before the big meets of Youth Nationals and Junior Olympics .

There were many highlight performances the meet offered with a great back drop of weather and a well run meet. This year they took a big step and added a day of competition too. I think this helped off set the very long day of 400m on Saturday.

I believe it paid off with the entire meet ending before sun down.Last year I was still at the track at 9:45pm watching the Bantam girls 100m Final. Many that have been attending the meet miss the venue they used for years, but as  everything else in life, things change, so do venues and  now we find this great meet at Narbonne High School. All and all not a bad venue, not perfect but for sure pretty user friendly over all.

I really didn’t get to move around all that much because our Team had a “Family Pot Luck” that kept me and many Quiet Fire Mom’s very busy most of the day.The food was great and we feed the entire team as much as they wanted until they just stop coming. It was great for our team to have food  ready and not have to worry about our kids eating and hydrating through out the day.  So that’s the back drop but the MAIN EVENT was the amazing performances of Saturday and Sunday.

This is what happened….. The 100m semi’s earlier in the day showed some great performances and times  but with the sun setting and the wind gusting up a lot, just finishing was all these athletes could hope for.The times were just okay in most cases because of the strong head wind.A win is a win any way you want to slice it.

The subbies started it off with 3 great performances in the 100m finals

The Quiet Fire Midgets Girls added much excitement to the meet as We placed 1st Lauren Williams,2nd Jeanette Paul and 8th Kyla Richardson. This race was so close when I asked Lauren who won she said I don’t know?
