Quiet Fire Track team 2009 Awards Banquet
February 3, 2010 is the 24th annual celebration of women and girls in sports - A special day where thousands of sports related people like, coaches ,parents educators across the country will show their support of the day and of this year’s theme, “Stay Strong, Play On,” according to the National Association of Girls and Women in Sport (NAGWS).
Even in 2010 girls in sports are looked upon in some circles as confusing and even not feminine enough, girls thrive when in a healthy, active, sporting environment. Lets continue to encourage and celebrate the “Sport” In girls sport and encourage a life long passion for activity and playing for thr fun of it!
NGWSD is a special day for girls and women to celebrate their participation in sports and athletics. This day is the perfect opportunity to let others know how many girls & women Title IX has helped and how much it has truly accomplished.
” Despite the stunning advances made in the 38 years since Title IX was enacted, high school girls still receive 1.3 million fewer participation opportunities than do boys, and evidence suggests that the money spent on girls’ sports programs lags significantly behind the money spent on boys’ programs.”
I asked Lauren today what this day means for girls and her personally she said “It means I run like a girl, I like it and that is a good thing”

Woohoo! It’s great that there’s organizations out there that fully support and appreciate female athletes, especially young ones! We always hear and see young male athletes gaining recognition, and it’s great to see that girls are catching up
