2 years…..Wow, How Time Flys

Greetings  From TrackMom.com, Dr. Lorraine Williams,

Yes it has been 2 years since I wrote my first post. 560 later I still have alot to say…  : - )

Many of you have e-mailed me recently wondering what I was up , because I haven’t been posting as regularly as usual .I have been a  little busy  lately only posting a few times per week.  I have returned to part time practice In Long Beach and patients are keeping me busy. My new practice is quite unique  with  a greater emphasis on  sport injury and injury prevention as well  as traditional family wellnesss care .

I am utilizing new healing modalities  in the office such as, Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy, Far Infra red Therapy, and my must haves  like Cold Laser Therapy, Kinesio - Taping ,Bodywork that includes multiple Chiropractic techniques  and specialized Sports Massage and some old but great stand by’s in Ultrasound and Electrical Stimulation. I will talk more about these treatment approaches in post to come.

I have not abandoned TrackMom.com, on the contrary,  I have been developing and conceptualizing its expansion and growth to provide more of what you love about the site. I so appreciate your patience and input on just how to make TrackMom.com better. As you realize this is a complete labor of love and at time my husband asks if I am going to sleep with my lap top. There are a never ending  array of  topics and views to discuss, and always more to learn to help our children’s and our experience be a rewarding and fullfilling one.

As a track family and individual families we owe it to each other to support and learn as much as we can to help our sport thrive and grow larger. Our child are the American future of track and field. One day the likes of Bryce Love,Daesha Rodgers,Robyn Reynolds, Jalen Nailor and Kendall Baisden to name a very few of the many great future Olympians will be called on to deliever in part thier share of 30 Gold or more in 2020 and beyond.

I hope that TrackMom.com can help you to think about possibilites large and small for your child, ask questions you only thought about of your coach  and trainers but were afraid, understand how hard it is to nuture and direct many athletes on one field for 2 hours a couple of days /week and create out of that number a few that will move on to Association , Regionals and then the JO National meet.

Help those who’s triedless effort keep youth track and field alive. If youth track didn’t have so many tireless volunteer hands we would have quality meets week after week year after year long after many parents children have moved on past youth track to highschool and college. I am asked often will i move on past youth track when Lauren does.

Yes and No… I love track and field. I get the same excitment from the kids as I do the Masters and the Elite. In proper persepective it is all simply amazing and the effort to compete is an amazing feat in and of it self. Many years ago before Henry and I were married he ran year after year trained week after week As  a Masters Athlete. I would go to those meets and feel the excitment as though they were the Olympics. Little did we know that 12 years latter he would trade his training shoes in for Lauren’s.

My husband was an amazing athlete and equally an amazing coach. Track has brought us a lot of joy and discussion at times but always , in the end we want to see track and field rise to a higher standard of excellence. Our family has become closer in many respects with track as our back drop of commonality and enjoyment.I can image as the years grow so will the topics and depth od closeness. Youth recreation is much more that time for the kids.

It has been a JOY to meet so many of you at the National meets and it encourages me when you say Hi and let me know you enjoy the site. My favorite is the kids..I love meeting the kids and taking pictures of them for the TM community  and TrackMom articles. Again I will encourage you parents and coaches to send me articles and information to highlight your athlete, they need not me National champions, but good citzens hard workers someone we can admire and applaud. Do it while the season is down, send me highlights to share and inspire others the more the better.I will put them all up.

I encourage you to enjoy the journey ,your journey and other you enjoy watching compete. Those of us close to youth track have a unique vantage point to see just WHO these next stars of our sport were before they were Olympians and World Champions. Very few will attain such lofty accolades but many  will say I remember when…….and reflect on the positive experience they had in youth track and field.  Knowing an athlete from a distance helps support the sport and it’s brand. I hope our athletes will be better known and appreciated for the talent and hopefully integrity and charcter they can bring to sports. It starts with us.

I look forward to you helping me create a lasting community in youth track and field that will enhance our sport and the people who love it so much.

Again thanks for supporting TrackMom.com In the beginning there was maybe 20 vistors I wasn’t even sure how they found me but some how I was found and my little musing about youth track and related mom subejects found an audience and the audience has a voice now. The voice has grown so loud that when needed(Bantam Girls USATF Long Junp Championship) it made a statement for all of our youth athletes  and elites as well, WE WANT FAIR JUDGING AT MEETS…..and then it was over time made fair. We did this together and so the victory of a fair judgement is ours to celebrate together. Knowing if the time arises again we can rally to the next cause that helps promote fairness,in our sport. TRACK PARENTS ROCK!
