Quiet Fire team work pays off

Before the new season begins ,coaches take a little break from regular season training and have time to look at whats a head for their returning and potential new athletes. There is always a bit of excitement at what possibilities lie in the new athletes. Here are a few ways that will help the parent and the coach get off to a great start a few short months from now.

Coaches, Win The Parents Over

  • Although this may take a little time a brief note of introduction, a personal phone call or the easiest and best way for a larger group a preseason group meeting that allows for food a little fellowship and some fun as you introduce your season goals and priorities.

  • Create a team  highlight manual that shows the parents your last season successes and  goals for the next season along with tentative dates locations and times the new season practices will be. explain what typical practices are like, the number and types of meets in a season, the locations.

  • List head coach and assistant coaches expectations for athlete behavior and conduct at practice and competition. Overview of policies and procedures of the team. List expectation of parent conduct and behavior also.

  • Provide a list of reasonable expectations for parents that can enhance the athletes track experience. Example: Bringing the athlete on time to practice.Proper feeding  and hydration ie; snacks after school and  before practice. Understanding the importance of sending food with your athlete if you are unable to attend meets. Proper attire most suitable for the season.

  • List needed help that could help out the team.Ask parents to submit talents and skills that could help school. Newsletters, website support etc.

  • Always a point of interest financial concerns. How does the team finance Junior Olympics as well as developmental efforts.Ask for input on how as a team of parents we can help support in these very important effort.

  • Discuss  team  snacks like sandwiches, water, fruit healthy carbs etc. Who could organize  and head up the effort.

  • Schedule a mid season parent meeting to touch base on the progress and maybe even problems the team is having.
