Olympic Champion ,World record holder Usain Bolt says he will give up running the 100m to concentrate on the longer sprints and cement his place among the legends of the track. I think this is great for track and field and it will be wonderful to track his progress over the next few years. Read more here

Jeremy and Clyde Back Together

 Just about 18 months ago Legendary Baylor coach Clyde Hart announced that he will no longer  be coach Jeremy Wariner, the then reigning 400-meter Olympic gold medalist and two-time world champion. It had been reported that they couldn’t come to terms on a new contract. “It’s just business,” Hart said Wariner told him. Well it appears business will go on as usual with the pair as Jeremy announced he will be training again with Clyde Hart. I say If he’s happy I am happy LOL In the long run it was probably for the best to get what ever he needed from the experience out of it and move on.  Good luck to them both. 

 Double-amputee sprinter Oscar Pistorius eyes Berlin Worlds

 ”Double-amputee sprinter Oscar Pistorius hopes to compete against the top stars at the world championships in Berlin, embarking on a demanding schedule as he returns to competition after a February boating accident.

After failing to make the qualifying times for last year’s Beijing Olympics, the South African won three gold medals in the Paralympics a month later.

Now Pistorius is again pursuing the best able-bodied athletes. In a bid to make the qualifying times for the Aug. 15-23 worlds, he will run at Golden League meets in Oslo and Rome as well several other European events”. Read the entire article here

 

Three-time Olympic gold medalist Jeremy Wariner has been added to the already impressive list of World and Olympic champions slated to compete at the Reebok Grand Prix.The Reebok Grand Prix is the fourth stop of USA Track & Field’s Visa Championship Series and will begin at 3:00pm on May 30, at Icahn Stadium on Randall’s Island.

 

Wariner, the 2004 Olympic champion at 400m, will be making his first appearance at the Reebok Grand Prix and will compete in the Men’s 200m. The 400m silver medalist in Beijing, Wariner recently won the 400m at the adidas Track Classic in a time of 44.66sec, the second fastest time in the world this year.
