LA Jets Meet.5.23-24th 2009 It’s Over And We Are Happy

Quiet Fire Wins The The Overall Championship

The morning after……Not sure why I am up while the rest of my family is comfy in bed but, I am so I decide to get to work . 

The 25th Annual LA Jets Invtational is over and has excited as we were to get to it we are equally glad it is over. The weather was great in the low to mid 70’s most tof the day and a slight breeze in the stands acting as a natural air conditioner. It has been reported that there were 3,000 athletes in attendance and I think that they all wanted to run the 400m .LOL….. (400m is the new 100m) ran from about 12:30pm until at least 6pm,it could have been longer. More  of that in a moment.

The 100m races were FLYING and many were commenting on just how fast this year was moving….Until the 400m. I am not sure you can get much faster when you have an average of 12 heats (Lauren was in heat 14 of14) and bantams through Imtermediate both genders .

In between all those races was food  Glorious Food. The Quiet Fire Team Parents got together and and put on a very large pot luck lunch day. Everything from  Barbecue meats,Carribean Chicken, Fried Chicken, sandwiches, Green beans,Peach Cobbler,Carrot cakes, Dips chips  homemade lemonade, Thai Ice tea and more. We feed more than one time almost the entire team in attendance parents and a few friends among the way. It was great. The kids ate mostly fruit and veggies until races were complete then they too ate  and ate  and ate and in the end nothing left but every one was happy. The kids wanted to do it again on Sunday but,we decided one day was plenty. Special thanks to all the parents that helped to make it a great day for the Quiet Fire team,Elinar and Enaespecially that all season long bring tons of food to share with any and everyone that as an appetite ,La Fonda my favorite “Short Termer”,Kim Youth Mom extraordinaire, Tamesha our go -to Mom to get things moving, Mina the magnificent  and all the other Moms that picked up last minutes items,helped serve kids, cleaned up the area and had a great attitude all day and part of the night long….The Night

Yes we were there until 10 pm because of the 100m finals and the 4×800m relays. Is there away to shorten the meet ??? I don’t think so because of the sheer volume of athletes. Pehaps a limit onthe number of athletes ,which probably won’t happen because it has been reported that they(LA Jets) don’t want to turn any kids aways so the number is likely to grow as it continues to be a premier meet before the post season begins.

The day finished off with Lauren winning the 100m and the 400m. She was very happy because this was her first time running  the 400m at the Jets meet.

Sunday was a nice day as well with some very exciting races and our team topped it off with the team trophy. Lauren said she was glad to be able to contribute with her wining points to help her team win .

All and all A good meet and a lot of fun.. Kudos for LA Jets and their fast result posting!!
