Dad and Mom watching the 200m 2008 LA Jets Invitational
The last meet of the regular season here in SoCal The LA Jet 25th Annual Invitational Track Meet. This year is shaping up to be another preview of the USATF Junior Olympics with great athletes from all over California as well as Arizona,Nevada and even the Northwest and mid west states too. A record 2700 athletes scheduled to compete I recommend getting to know your stadium seat neighbors because you are going to see them for most of the long holiday weekend .
I am very lucky this year the meet has changed to Gahr High School and we live 1.5 miles from the stadium. When we first began training Lauren we train right there weekly. For us it is like a home stadium to the Williams. The stadium holds over 10,000 spectators.Parking is at a premium and the city of Cerritos sherrif’s will be in full effect giving tickets . Plan to get there early and stay late(the part I hate 100m finals at 8pm YUCK).
The track is in dire need of a re-do and just about the worst track we have run at this season (LB Sprinters were there as well, but I suppose you have to go where you can accommodate the athletes . Our team is having a team tail gate pot luck this year and it is shaping up very nice. I am cooking as I write this post. The carrot cakes are cooling ,I just cut up 3 pounds of strawberries now I am taking a break. Well kinda of…This is relaxing so yes ,I am taking a break. My one track meet day dream is for a real Youth Invitational like the Arcadia Meet that ends before 8-9 pm in the evening and cause so much excitment you hate to see it end.
The results will be posted on Monday the 26th .
Hope to see you there!
P.S.
Lauren will run the 100m,200m and 400m and is hoping to PR is all three this weekend.
