Taisyn Crutchfield Silver Medalist 2008 USATF JO
Taisyn Crutchfield is a very unique scholar-athlete that began her journey in track and field at age 5 in Moscow, Idaho. While kicking rocks on the dirt track and picking grass during drills on the in field was Taisyn’s main focus during practice at age 5, occasionally she would decide to run as fast as the other kids her age to win the 50 and 100 meters for girls age 6 and under.
Taisyn has always worked hard to excel and succeed in academics. Taisyn maintains a 4.0 grade average and feels honored to participate in a student-teacher aide after school program where she tutors other children in mathematics. Taisyn has received several honor and academic awards such as The President of the United States award for high academic achievers and multiple honor roll awards for receiving all A’s and maintaining a 4.0 grade average.
Taisyn’s hobbies include teaching/tutoring peers, reading, braiding and styling her doll heads, soccer and track and field. Taisyns hard work in the class room has also carried over to Track and Field where she has excelled tremendously. Taisyn has been part of several junior Olympic, USATF National JO and AAU National JO Championship relays from the bantam and midget girls age-groups.
Taisyn placed 4thin the bantam girls 100meters at the 2006 national championship meet in North Carolina. Taisyn also placed 6thin the bantam girls 400 meters at the 2006 national junior Olympic championship meet in Indianapolis. In 2008, Taisyn place 2nd at the USATF National Junior Olympic Championship meet in the midget girls 200 meters and 6th place in the AAU National junior Olympic Games midget girls 100 meters in Detroit.
Taisyn attributes her success in both academics and athletics to God first, her parents/family and the excellent coaching received from a group of very fine and knowledgeable coaches. Taisyn would like to thank coach Reggie Young , George Profit and Trevor Bernard(Pasadena Running Roses), Lori Thompson and Gary Sumpter(Swift Performance), Victor and Zelda Bolden(California Rising Stars), and a very special thank you to her present coaches, Ronald and Tarina Brown (head coaches of the California Rising Stars).
Taisyn is excited about the up and coming track season of 2009 as a first year youth girl. Already showing top times thus far in the season she will surprise a few and shock many with her quick explosive speed and determination to win. Her short and long term goals are to make every final in each event she participates in as a bottom youth and qualify for the National Championships, USATF National Junior Olympic championships and the AAU National Junior Olympic Games as a bottom youth. Taisyn plans to attend college on an academic/athletic scholarship and to some day become an Olympic gold medalist in track and field and a labor and delivery registered nurse. Just like her MOM.
