LA Jets Weekend Wrap-Up

Regina and  Miah Webb  of High Performance Track Team

My family was in attendance this week with 2 of my nieces running. One is a midget on High Performance track club Miah Webb (11) and the other a 6 year old sub-bantam Alexia Few first time unattached. My dad loves to come to the meets so we (my sisters and I) make sure he is well feed and happy all day. We had baked bar-B-que chicken and ribs (I brought a small chaffing dish that worked wonderful) a lots of others good food too.I didn’t bring any home…..

This was a great meet weekend. The weather much like last week over cast and 60′s. Warmed up a little mid day. The kids were very excited to run and this week it was a relay carnival. Lauren loves the relays, she just has to realize it take a bit of time to mesh together. We took a 2nd in the 4×200 and 3rd in the 4×100 but don’t count us out yet lots to be done : – )  Lauren also ran the 400m finished first in her heat 1:08 and she says she is ready to drop it to a 1:04 soon….Okay Lauren sounds good. : – )

Alexia after first race 100m 5th place Go-Lexi !

LA Jets girls(and boys) looking very strong in the relays with many 1st place finishes to many to count. So Cal Cougars also looked very promising in the short sprints and relays. Lead by Jaelen Rasheed Nailor, the strong bantam boy team look to go very far this season. There girls aren’t to far behind with a strong second place  in the 4×100.

As usual on many lips throughout the day was the up coming Phoenix Invitational April 4-5th,2009 and anticipation is growing to see just who will lead the pack in region 15 this season. One thing Iknow is that you can never count in or out the winner or top 7 finishers later on in the season, but Phoenix is a great moral booster for the top of the season introduction. Lauren was last years 4th place finisher in a PR time I was thrilled about. Not expecting her to become Regional Champ in the 100m by the end May(6 short weeks later) and second place finisher in the 200. Right behind her teammate and USATF JO Silver medalst Jenette Paul.

Next week Bay City for most of Region 15 we are off and I am having a yard sale. My last chance this spring.

Until Next Time
