There was question as to the validity to my stated claim of Lauren Williams becoming the new WR holder(8.55) according to the  Youth World Record Web Site.  After birthdate verfication Lauren is the 9 year old (7.25.99) that has broken the WR  previously held by Martina Salander  (8.66) and Dior Hall1.2.96) is the 10 year old  that is the WR holder(8.30) Congratulations Ladies!

Kids haven’t run in a while, many of them like the 2nd place finisher in the 60m Taisyn Crutchfield, play travel soccer and won’t be on the track for a few more weeks and not practicing yet and she is a lower youth. Wow.. We have lots to look forward to. Many are finishing basketball or just getting started due to weather issues or simply a later start. The good news that by the end of the season the playing field has evened out as much as it can andwe are poised for another great season with america’s finest youth track athletes.

My favorites of the day

I truly enjoyed the entire meet but I do have favorites that change from week to week this weeks favorite races were the Bantam girl 60m , 200m  and 4x300m  (for the obvious reasons) Lauren was able to come out victorious with a 60m 8.55, A New World Record, 200m 29.28 and the girls put together a record breaking 4x300m relay 3.37.39.

I loved all of the 60m races . The young men divison of the 6om had a little light fun drama add to the final finish that had the crowd laughing and chatting a bit.

 1   Bryce Lamb  6.93   2 Markus Wheaton, Markus   6.96  3 Joeal Hotchkins

The bantam boy finals was a mirror of the girls as So Cal Running Cougars  Rasheed “Speedy” Nailor took the same as his female counter part.Rasheed let us know  he was very serious when he donned the green and gold version of his team colors usually saved for regional finalist and national finalist. He  promises to be one to watch and I am even going to put myself out there and say I think Rasheed will be on top come Nationals and he could possibly break a  national record or two this season..It won’t be easy with Florida always bringing alot of heat but I think the California Bantam boy  will be there again like last year.

One of my favorite races of the day was the youth  girls 60m was a very competive group and the final race showed that with it almost to close tell from my vantage point  3rd-5th place 1st and 2nd was a great close race.

Gold Medalist Alexandra Diaz LSI Northern California

Silver Medaist Taisyn Cruthfield Rising Stars

Bronze medalist Audrianna Holloway Mururietta Maverick

Another early to watch youth girl this season from this meet is 12 year old Quite Fire’s Sierra Peterson scoring 2 golds in the 200m and the 400m and a finalist in the 100m. She too wants a piece of the winners circle gold come July 2009 and she is one to watch.

California Rising Stars  provided a clean sweep in the Midget girls60m with:

  1 Graham, Jasmyne 8.07
  2 Williams, Jaela      8.17
  3 Jones, Margaux     8.40

Margaux Jones always up for the challenge and a medals to take home a souvenirs from a time well spent. Margaux also brought silver home in the 200m and the long jump.
