A few days ago while watching the Olympics,Beach Volleyball Lauren says “Hey Mom,There’s the Magic Tape”. Chris Chase of 4th Place medal says,
“if you’ve watched any beach volleyball so far during the Olympics, you’ve surely noticed it. Spread across American star Kerri Walsh’s right shoulder is a distinct black marking that sort of looks like a cross between a tribal tattoo and a Rorschach test. (I see a butterfly.) So what is it?”
Magic tape (as it is called in our home is a special tape used for support like a flexible brace and facilitates weak muscles with neurological awareness or proprioception. It’s for injury as well as injury prevention. It ‘s called Kinesio Tape. I know a little bit about this tape because 2 years ago I took a seminar on it’s application and use with athletes. The tape is really magic…. Well, it seems like magic when applied correctly. I have used the tape on Lauren, myself many times, on ocassion a few track athletes and patient in my office. I wrote about this”kinesio tape“ a while back. Acording to “4th Place Medal” a Yahoo blog, people really want to know what the heck is the black stuff on her shoulder. Oh yeah,it comes in a few colors too!
Walsh is not the only athlete that has discovered this great sports aid . During the Olympic trials I saw Torrie Edwards with the tape on her left knee. Other athletes like . Lance Armstrong Serena Williams, David Beckam have used it for years too .
So the mystery is solved. Enjoy your dinner while watching America do their thing, no worries the tape really is a good thing…. GO RED WHITE AND BLUE!!

I’ve seen the tape on Olympic water polo players so its waterproof as well!
Yes it is .It last sometimes 5 days if treated nicely.
