AAU Junior Olympic Championships Day 5 It’s An Off Day Today For Us

This day couldn’t have come soon enough. Almost 2 weeks on the road ,it is getting a bit much.We are having a good time but it is time to go home. Yesterday Lauren earned a 7th place finish in the Long Jump.

She wasn’t very happy(again) with this finish. I am almost at a lost at what to say at this point. She knows we are proud of her,but she continues to compare last years results(4th) and say she thought she could do better. She was very quiet and pouty for a few hours when Henry said” That is enough! straighten up or else”. Else wouldn’t be good. Did have to go to else but close…

She was in a funk she couldn’t shake. I talked to her again,he took her DS away and we went to dinner with friends from Seattle Speed. Being around the other children seem to help her get some much needed perspective and she was much better. She made it to the finals in the 200 so she is in both Saturday.

We went to the Motown Museum today , due to crowds it was a little bit of a wait but a nice short informational tour. It was nice to relax and not get up early. Glad we got out but the day went so fast after the tour, our thoughts began to shift to the races tomorrow. What time to get her in the bed, what to eat and what time etc…. Well it’s almost bed time.Lauren is watching Ice Age 2 and very relaxed.Lights out soon.

That’s just fine with me…Until Next Time, which will be probably something short and sweet on Saturday night then on Monday evening August 4th when I hopefully arrive home. Can’t wait for a regular routine again. : – )
