Day 1 Is Over…… On To Day 2 of ther UAGTCA Invitational Youth Track Meet
July 12, 2008
So glad day one is over. Not because it was a bad day for Lauren or anything like that ,but traveling to a city you aren’t familar with and trying to settle in takes a bit of time and when it’s hot,it is that much harder. Yesterday the trip north from Maryland was very nice UNTIL I got 2 exits from my destination off ramp. There was a fatal accident about 1/2 a mile up from us and after sitting in the same place for 45mintues I was able to merge to the left shoulder and move up to the merge ramp and back down the ramp and take the remaining highway that turned into a street that ran right into the one I needed. Was I HAPPY after a 4 hours on the road (2 hours longer that planned).
We arrived at the track meet at 12:40pm. I found Leslie Stokkes and she graciously settled me in and sat us with the team she is affiated with the, Mount Airy Track Club, I met the head coach Teri too, all the people were so nice and helpful it was great to meet more warm and friendly track family.Shortly after, Lauren warmed up and she was ready to roll. As I was waiting in the stands, and Lauren now in staging, I met many more nice people that wanted to chat about TrackMom.com.I couldn’t believe how many people already had heard about the “Little Track Site That Could” : ) If you happen to be at the meet over the weekend please stop by and say Hi! I love meeting new track family.
The meet seemed very busy with activity but well organized with many vendors like JL Athletic Wear from of California, a great airbrush tattoo (Lauren got one with flames and glitter) and a few other vendors. The t-shirt vendor offered great event shirts and very with reasonably priced The meet appeared to be running a little behind their scheduled times ,but no one seem to be complaining ,and it was really was not noticable.

Sunday promises to be fast and furious with Tia Livingston of Supersonics track team ranked #5 in the 100 and #10 in the 200 .
Stay Tuned…
Last thoughts before I get ready to leave for the track…..
Two guys were hiking through the jungle when they spotted a tiger who looked both hungry and fast. One of the guys reached into his pack and pulled out a pair of tennis shoes.
His friend looked at him “Do you really think those shoes are going to make you run faster than that tiger?”
I don’t have to run faster than that tiger, his friend replied. “I just have to run faster than you“.
Isn’t that just like every race our youth athletes run. Just need to get the job done on any given day.
Until Next Time,
