And Jordan Scores….

Jordan Crescent Gutierrez

Named after one of the greatest basketball players of all time, he is living up to it in his own power packed way.  Jordan was born on May 13, 1996, at 4 months old he  began humming and moving in rhythm with the blues music of Jonny Lang. This was a sure indication to his parents he was going to be a special child.

Jordan’s interest in running was first noticed  at age 5 as he ran and dived into the foam pit during gymnastics class.  One of the gentlemen in the audience made a comment that this kid should run track because, he’s got some speed.

His first taste of track was with the Valley Raiders, (the Valley Conference, SoCal area San Fernando Valley) as a bottom gremlin at 6 years old.  He was dominating the gremlin division for both Eastern and Western conference.

During his bantam year, Coach Christopher Mack took him under his wing and that led to Jordan winning the gold for the 800m in the National Outdoor Meet in Greensboro, NC. He currently run on the team Quite Fire

In 2007 as a bottom midget, Jordan was the youngest member of the relay team that won the gold in the 4x800m in the Junior Olympics held at MT. SAC.

Although his main sport is track, Jordan plays running back and corner averaging one touchdown a game for San Fernando Braves which has been undefeated for two years in two different division. They have won back to back championships. Jordan also has exceled is swimming,  qualifying for the Junior Olympics in 2005 and 2006.

Jordan aims high and for excellence. At school, St. Brendan, where he is currently a 6th grader, he has maintained his honor roll standing , getting straight A’s in all his subjects since 2nd grade.  Jordan  loves math and can compute double digit multiplication in his head faster than you could punch it in the calculator.

Jordan plays and coaches flag football at school and is the top scoring point guard for the school basketball team. He has even mentioned he may want to explore some new events in track and field.

Recently, he has picked up yet another interest. The drums. According to his proud dad he is getting good at it.  His dad doesn’t know how he does it but he seems to be giving a bit of attention to young ladies lately (they really like him . ) Jordan, where do you get the energy???

Keep up the good work, the sky’s the limit. Best wishes as you begin qualifying  for JO’s this weekend.

Thanks to the Gutierrez  family for sharing this story.
