Is This The Fastest 8 Year Old  Girl In L.A.?

A friend called me a couple of days ago and told me about this fun race for the kids of greater Los Angeles. I thought it sounds like a lot of fun and the possibity of meeting some world class athletes was really exciting to Lauren. So today we are going to go out to the  adidas Classic Track Meet at the Home Depot Center Track and see if Lauren can be crowned Fastest Girl In Los Angeles.

 Fastest Kids in LA to be crowned at adidas Track Classic on May 18

 In a new feature this year at the adidas Track Classic, 200 8- and 9-year-olds will race – on the same track as their Olympic idols – for the chance to win the title of KJLH Fastest Kid in LA, sponsored by KJLH Radio.

Beginning at 9 a.m. on May 18 at the Home Depot Center track, on the campus of California State University, Dominguez Hills, the first 200 children who sign in will get the opportunity to line up for 100-meter qualifying races, which begin at 10 a.m. To enter, children must reside in southern California, and be either 8 or 9 years old as of May 18. The finals, in which the KJLH Fastest Boy in LA and KJLH Fastest Girl in LA will be crowned, will be held in the afternoon during the main event.

All 200 entrants will receive a complimentary sack pack that includes a ticket to the adidas Track Classic, an Olympic-caliber track-and-field event that begins at 12:30 p.m. At least seven reigning World Champions are set to compete in the all-star event, including Tyson Gay, Allyson Felix, Jeremy Wariner, Veronica Campbell and Bernard Lagat, and all will vie for gold medals at the Olympics later this summer.
