Quiet Fire Track Meet And Results 3.1.08

Saturday at the Quiet Fire Relays I saw so many children , so many heats. It looks like a very exciting and competitive season ahead. I went to the end field to take some pictures and I saw the most darling sight. The kids were long jumping, but they were having so much fun, I think they were Sub-Bantams.I couldn’t help but smile and laugh a bit at how they were enjoying the day. I though if somehow we could bottle this enthusiasm for their entire track experience that would be a beautiful thing. Truly the children do have fun when they participate. I was very impressed with the volunteers,they were so patient and calm. Way to go Quite Fire!!!The parents in the stands were not quite as happy(a lot of 1500m heats a little drizzle and cold) I heard them say, but not to crumpy, mostly enjoying the competion from the stands. Iwent to sit into the stands to watch a few races.The parents in my section seem to be new to T&F but non the less excited about what was going to happen next.

I heard someone say they were unattached, this being their first meet. I couldn’t help but want to introduce myself and just chat ,but before I could make a move some one else had kindly offered help and general information. I always feel like we are part of a large family, a track family.

We all love the excitement of a great race and a great performance but we also enjoy watching the children just trying no matter the place they receive at the line.Winning is always important,but simply showing up is most important.Learning how to be a winner no matter what place you take.
