  • 3. Please remember to hydrate your children well .Not Just on training and competition days, but every day.Encourage water drinking at school.Give them a bottle or two that should be empty when they get picked up, and then start on another.  Lauren drinks at least 3 bottles per day and 1 bottle during practice(it could be a bit more when it’s warmer.) It’s a habit now, second nature.

    4. When your child is training join in and walk (or run) round the track as he practices. Show by example the importance of exercise even when you get “old” exercise is important. Let’s face it many of our youth athletes have role models(us hopefully) that are less than fit. What message are we sending? Do as I say….. you know  the rest ? I hope not.

    5. Let’s watch our language in the stands and on the field. We are setting examples good or bad depending on the quality of our behavior. The track meets are family outings not bar room brawls.

Lastly , Thanks to all the track parent volunteers for committing to our youth by helping out and going out of your way for your children and mine too! I appreciate the very hard work of putting on a  quality track meet week after week.

Thank-you for all the lovely e-mails with encouragement and support I have received on TrackMom.Com. You can  help make TrackMom even better with your great comments and insight…Keep it coming!

      Hi,

The tips you just gave really should be implemented into some type of code of ethics or rule book for AAU and USATF YOUTH, or put together for a mandatory handbook for the parents to read.

      Hi Tyangela,

It is unfortunate that sometimes some parents forget we are in the presence of impressionable youth and the adult smouth get as Lauren says “potty like” .Not to mention a bit mean : ( and hurtful)

Great site, I don’t know the difference. However the information is really good, especially the article about the icy hot and bengay. I had heard something about that but didn’t have the details. I will share this with my sons basketball and football coaches. Keep up the great work.
      Peace and Bountiful Blessings! KPratt

    Got something to say?
